Overtime calculator

Work over the standard hours brings a supplement: +50% on regular days, +100% on Sundays, holidays and days off, and a separate +20% for night work. Calculate what you should be paid and check your employer.

How overtime pay works in Poland

Work beyond the standard working hours earns the normal hourly rate plus a premium (dodatek):

  • +50% — for overtime on ordinary working days;
  • +100% — for work on Sundays, public holidays, at night (usually 9pm–7am), and for overtime on a day that was supposed to be off.

So an hour of “+50%” overtime is worth 150% of your rate (100% for the hour itself + 50% premium), and “+100%” overtime is worth 200%. The employer must keep a record of hours; if premiums aren't paid, that's a violation handled by the State Labor Inspectorate (PIP).

FAQ

Is overtime paid, or given as time off?
The employer can give time off instead of a payment, but only at your written request — 1:1, or at the employer's initiative — 1.5 hours per hour worked. A cash premium of +50%/+100% is the default option.
Is there a limit on overtime?
Yes — usually up to 150 hours a year (a contract can set more, within rest-period rules). The 11-hour daily rest and 35-hour weekly rest must still be preserved.

Keep your own record of hours. First, send a written demand to the employer; next, a complaint to PIP (Państwowa Inspekcja Pracy). We can advise you too if you're one of our candidates.
