The agency must have a license
Employment intermediation is only permitted with a license from the Ministry of Labor. The list of agencies is published by Úřad práce on uradprace.cz — check the company's name and identification number (IČO).
What the agency is not allowed to do
- Take money from you — neither for employment nor through salary deductions for its own benefit.
- Pay less than a comparable employee at the company where you work: working conditions must be no worse.
- Keep you with the same client for longer than 12 consecutive months (unless you asked for it yourself).
Signs of violations
- no written contract; paid less than the minimum wage;
- more than 12 h per day without overtime pay; no sick leave or vacation pay;
- confiscating documents or restricting movement.
Do not sign anything you do not understand — powers of attorney, consent to fines or deductions. Ask for and keep pay slips, and verify that your health and social insurance are being paid.
Where to apply
- Labour Inspectorate (SÚIP) — complaint by post, e-mail, online or in person; the applicant's identity is kept confidential. There is a page in Ukrainian.
- La Strada (labour exploitation, human trafficking): 800 077 777, Ukrainian language supported.
- Immigrant integration support centers — free consultations.
- Suspected crime — police 158.
